Quite possibly San Diego's best kept secret, tucked away in the quiet little hamlet of Del Cerro. Just across the freeway from SDSU, we've got 32 craft beers on tap and 25+ wines by the glass, plus a retail floor, 20 cooler doors of craft brew, and a two-story wall of liquor. You want a $200 bottle of wine poured for you while the Rolling Stones blast over the sound system? Done. You want to drink four different Sculpins in one night? Been there, done that. You want to have your tongue melted off by our house-made hot sauce? That can be arranged.

A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.
Like most double IPA-style beers, the taste of hops that linger for days is at work in this beer. We like the way hops weave in and out of what little malt you can taste. Certainly, we brewed this as a hop-forward beer and think that after one sip you’ll agree with us.
Strongly resembles a Strong Golden Ale but slightly darker and somewhat fuller-bodied. Usually has a more rounded malt flavor but should not be sweet.
Easy-drinking, approachable, malt-oriented American craft beer.

Northern English Brown 4.8%
AleSmith Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
AleSmith’s interpretation of this classic English-style ale is smooth, dark, and rich. A variety of specialty malts produce a brilliant dark brown color and a wonderful malt complexity. A light dose of East Kent Goldings and Styrian Goldings hops from England balance the malt sweetness without adding bitterness to the flavor profile. Reintrodcued at AleSmith in 2002, Nut Brown Ale has quickly become one of our most popular beers. Rich chocolate malt flavors create complexity and drinkability in this classic English-style Nut Brown ale. Although dark in color, Nut Brown Ale is an extremely easy drinking, relatively low alcohol beer.
A classic Scotch Ale. Scotch ales are typically sweet and malty, with a very subdued dose of hops, just enough to provide balance. AleSmith Wee Heavy is a wonderful interpretation of this traditional Scotch style. A year spent in bourbon barrels adds another layer of rich sweetness. Deep mahogany color with nice tan head. Rich, toasty, malty aroma and flavor with a faint touch of smokiness. A tinge of hops provides the perfect balance to the maltiness. Full-bodied, smooth and warming.

Belgian Dark Strong Ale 10.0%
AleSmith Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
Our other famous Belgian-style offering is our Grand Cru. As with Horny Devil, it is fermented using yeast which originated in a Trappist monastery in Belgium. A darker type of Belgian candi sugar gives it more color and a richer complexity of flavor, consistent with the Belgian style. Medium-dark brown, with tan head. Sweet, malty aroma with a satisfying balance of hoppiness. Tremendously intriguing, complex flavors play upon the palate shifting from sweet to tangy to hoppy and so on. The medium-dry finish leaves you eager for the next sip.

Belgian Golden Strong Ale 11.0%
AleSmith Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
This is the AleSmith incarnation of a Belgian Strong Ale. Horny Devil is an authentic Belgian Style ale, from the Belgian candi sugar right down to the yeast, a Belgian strain from a Trappist monastery in Belgium. In addition to the malts, candi sugar and fresh hops, there is also a little added twist from coriander seeds, which impart a refreshing citrus flavor to an outstanding ale. Belgian ale lovers around the world have raved about Horny Devil, and you will too. Bright straw/light yellow color and good head formation and retention when properly served. Appealing Brussels lace. Intriguingly complex.
Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice off-white head, with good retention when properly served. Starts off with pleasantly strong hop flavors, balanced by a firm malt backdrop, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Medium straw color, pale tan head. In October of 2004, we released the first beer in our series of Barrel Aged beers, Allagash Curieux. To make the Curieux we age our Tripel Ale in Jim Beam barrels for 8 weeks in our cellar. During the aging process in bourbon barrels, the beer is totally transformed, and many new flavors and aromas develop. Most notably, the beer picks up soft coconut and vanilla characteristics...and also a hint of bourbon flavor!
A deep reddish, moderately strong, malty, complex Belgian ale.
A dark, very rich, complex, very strong Belgian ale. Complex, rich, smooth and dangerous.

Traditional Belgian wheat style beer. Brewed with a generous portion of wheat and spiced with coriander and Curacao orange peel, this beer is fruity, refreshing and slightly cloudy in appearance.
A refreshing, elegant, tasty, moderate-strength wheat-based ale.
This is an aggressive beer. You probably won't like it. It is quite doubtful you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality or depth. We would suggest you stick to more familiar territory - maybe something with a multi-million dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it's made in a little brewery, or one that implies that its tasteless fizzy yellow beer will give you more sex appeal.
An intensely flavored, big, dark ale. Roasty, fruity, and bittersweet, with a noticeable alcohol presence. Dark fruit flavors meld with roasty, burnt, or almost tar-like sensations. Like a black barleywine with every dimension of flavor coming into play.
An intensely hoppy, very strong pale ale without the big maltiness and/or deeper malt flavors of an American barleywine. Strongly hopped, but clean, lacking harshness, and a tribute to historical IPAs. Drinkability is an important characteristic; not a heavy, sipping beer.
A well-hopped American interpretation of the richest and strongest of the English ales. The hop character should be evident throughout, but does not have to be unbalanced. The alcohol strength and hop bitterness often combine to leave a very long finish.
Crisp, clean, refreshing beer that prominently features alight hop bitterness.
Maharaja is derived from the sanskrit words mahat, meaning “great”, and rajan, meaning “king”. Much like its namesake, this imperial IPA is regal, intense and mighty. With hops and malts as his servants, he rules both with a heavy hand. The Maharaja flaunts his authority over a deranged amount of hops: tangy, vibrant and pungent along with an insane amount of malted barley – fashioning a dark amber hue and exquisite malt essence. Welcome to his kingdom! The Maharaja is the second installment in our Dictator Series.
A substantial, malty dark ale with a complex and flavorful roasted character.
If you have fallen for the IPA style like we have, Big Eye will be a welcome addition to your repertoire. You'll revel in Big Eye's bitter, hoppy flavor thanks to the American Columbus and Centennial hops that are used to flavor and dry hop our flagship IPA. We thank our hops every day that the English loved their bitters or else the IPA style may not have been born to help the beer survive the journey from Cape Hope to India back in the 18th century.

Robust Porter 6.0%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
Black Marlin is a rich, dark and chocolaty Porter with a distinctive American hop character. It is a great beer to go with hearty foods and is surprisingly one of the few beers that goes well with dessert. American Amber Ale 5.5%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
Inspired by traditional English ESBs, our Calico Amber Ale is as American as it could be. A rich complexity comes from four types of malt, but it's those distinct American hops that offer a crisp bitterness and unique floral aroma. To round out our traditional-English-yet-very-American Amber Ale, we use a proprietary yeast to develop a fruity, Madeira-like richness.

Munich Helles 4.6%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
Malty yet not overly sweet because of the slight underlying hops.
The Sculpin is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. It showcases bright flavors and aromas of apricot, peach, mango & lemon. The lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale won a gold medal at the World Beer Cup 2010 in the International Pale Ale category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the tastiest. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

American Stout 7.0%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
Sea Monster Imperial Stout is a new version of an old favorite. This hearty stout is black as the abyss and clocks in at a whopping 10% ABV, a real monster. The flavors of roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate are complamented by a velvety smoothness from the addition of un-malted barley and oats. Colombus and Amarillo hops help to balance out the huge malt character of this flavor bomb. Be careful the alcohol is well hidden and will sneak up on you if you don’t watch out. Like most scary monsters, it can be a little intimidating, but have no fear.

Robust Porter 10.0%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.
Summer days and ocean waves inspired our Belgian Witbier-styled Wahoo Wheat. Brewed to be light and refreshing?with a unique citrus character that comes from adding orange peel and coriander to the boil. What gives our Wahoo Wheat?and other wheat beers?a hazy appearance is the unmalted wheat it's made from. A special yeast contributes to this beer?s refreshing tangy flavor?quite different from the banana and clovey Hefeweizens of Bavaria. If you want to be surprised what deliciousness can come from wheat, oats and barley, try one today.

The first American rye to be produced, Hop Rod Rye is a high performance, turbo charged, alcohol burnin' monster ale with dual overhead hop injection that revs out the hop-o-meter at over 90 IBUs. This hoppy American IPA is a full bodied beer brewed American pale and crystalmalts, and heavily hopped with Chinook, Cascade, Columbus and Centennial. There's a trophy in every glass.

Strongly resembles a Strong Golden Ale but slightly darker and somewhat fuller-bodied. Usually has a more rounded malt flavor but should not be sweet.
A refreshing, medium to strong fruity/spicy ale with a distinctive yellow-orange color, highly carbonated, well hopped, and dry with a quenching acidity.
A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.
This beer with its typical golden color, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterized by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer's flavor, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurized.
A dark Trappist beer with a powerful aroma, the complex flavour of which improves across the years. It was first brewed as a Christmas beer, explaining the presence of a "vintage". This authentic Belgian beer, whose tinge of fresh yeast is associated with a light rosy flowery touch, is particularly pleasant. Its aroma, perceived as one enjoys it, only accents the delightful sensations revealed by the odour, all revealing a light but agreeable caramelized note.
Noted for its coppery color which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavor qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurized.
Pouring as vibrant gold as a perfectly sunny day in San Diego, this light-bodied, delicately hopped session beer is brewed using pilsner malts and our house strain of California ale yeast. The result is a crisp, clean and abundantly refreshing brew that's ideal for everyday enjoyment.

Belgian Specialty Ale 9.0%
Coronado Brewing Company, Coronado, CA
CBC's overriding mission is to brew beers that are 100% true to our San Diego roots. Our spring seasonal, an unfiltered Belgian-style IPA, does so in spades thanks to aggressive West Coast hopping, while paying tasteful homage to Old World flavors and brewing traditions.
It doesn't take a genius to know quality West Coast IPA's require a stupid amount of hops. A generous blend of Nugget hops and the four C's – Cascade, Centennial, Chinook and Columbus – brings forth a myriad of tropical fruit flavors and a brawny, persistent bitterness that makes for a highly intelligent brew.
Named after Coronado Island, our original India Pale Ale is a liquid expression of hometown pride. Cascade, Chinook and Columbus hops combine to provide an explosive burst of piney bitterness and luscious notes of apricot, grapefruit and mango that are sure to evoke imagery of swinging palms and sun-kissed shores.
Mermaid's Red™ bucks the shallow mid-range red ale stereotype. Loaded with Cascade hops, it delivers a fresh floral aroma and sharp bitter notes, all while delivering a solid kick of roasted malts that fades seamlessly into a rich, chocolaty finish with hints of clove and caramel.

A dark, very rich, complex, very strong Belgian ale. Complex, rich, smooth and dangerous.

Deschutes is taking you into the next beer frontier. Brewed with wheat and pilsner malt; this IPA displays beautiful citrus aromas from Cascade and Citra hops that meld with the esters of Belgian yeast.
Hop Henge Experimental IPA is our annual exercise in IBU escalation. An outrageous amount of Centennial and Cascade hops are added to each barrel, with a heavy dry-hop presence as well. It is dense and muscular, with a blend of crystal, pale and carastan malts creating an overall biscuity characteristic. It’s all hop, no apologies.
A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.
A hoppy, bitter, strongly roasted Foreign-style Stout (of the export variety).
Rich, malty and usually sweet, which can be suggestive of a dessert. Complex secondary malt flavors prevent a one-dimensional impression. Strength and maltiness can vary

Esquire Magazine calls our 90 Minute IPA., "perhaps the best I.P.A. in America." An Imperial I.P.A. brewed to be savored from a snifter. A big beer with a great malt backbone that stands up to the extreme hopping rate. 90 Minute IPA was our first continually-hopped beer, which is a method of hopping that allows for a pungent, but not crushing hop flavor. Since introducing the world to the continual-hopping method with our 90 Minute IPA, we've since released a continually-hopped 60 Minute IPA, 120 Minute IPA and even a 75 Minute IPA (a cask-conditioned blend of 60 & 90 Minute IPAs).
