An intensely flavored, big, dark ale. Roasty, fruity, and bittersweet, with a noticeable alcohol presence. Dark fruit flavors meld with roasty, burnt, or almost tar-like sensations. Like a black barleywine with every dimension of flavor coming into play.
Maharaja is derived from the sanskrit words mahat, meaning “great”, and rajan, meaning “king”. Much like its namesake, this imperial IPA is regal, intense and mighty. With hops and malts as his servants, he rules both with a heavy hand. The Maharaja flaunts his authority over a deranged amount of hops: tangy, vibrant and pungent along with an insane amount of malted barley – fashioning a dark amber hue and exquisite malt essence. Welcome to his kingdom! The Maharaja is the second installment in our Dictator Series.
A truly authentic Belgian style wheat or “white” ale, this Rascal is unfiltered (yup, that’s yeast on the bottom) and cleverly spiced with coriander and Curaçao orange peel producing a refreshingly zesty classic ale. Food pairing: Spicy Thai or Mexican dishes provide a level of heat and spiciness required to balance the semi-sweet, citrus flavors found in White Rascal. Our favorites are pad thai, green curry, blackened codfish and ceviche.
Strongly resembles a Strong Golden Ale but slightly darker and somewhat fuller-bodied. Usually has a more rounded malt flavor but should not be sweet.
Bohemian Pilsener 5.3%
Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Paso Robles, CA
Crisp, complex and well-rounded yet refreshing
A golden, complex, effervescent, strong Belgian-style ale.
Labatt's brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company.
Spring! A time of renewal. Renew your taste buds with our “California style” Spring Beer, a unique fusion of a hoppy wheat beer brewed with a blended fermentation of Belgian and American yeast. Pours a hazy gold with a thick, white head. Floral hop aromas abound, complemented by the taste of tangy wheat and spicy Belgian yeast notes with a bitter, slightly sweet, bready finish. Additional Information: For our first Seasonal 4-pack, we decided to create something one of a kind. This beer was fermented in two separate batches, one using a traditional American Ale yeast and the other using a Belgian Wit yeast. The two finished beers were then blended to create an extra layer of complexity and flavor. We also used two new hop varieties: Bravo & Calypso. These hops add a wonderful tropical fruit and pear character to our CSB.
ORANGE WHEAT Crisp, Tart, and Refreshing. Whole locally grown oranges added throughout the brewing process perfectly compliment this unfiltered wheat and barley based beer. Our oranges are purchased through the Old Grove Orange company (affiliate of the non-profit Inland Orange Conservancy) whose main objectives are to save the local orange trees from disappearing, spread the word about the local citrus growing heritage, and to feed the hungry with the unutilized oranges.
A refreshing, medium to strong fruity/spicy ale with a distinctive yellow-orange color, highly carbonated, well hopped, and dry with a quenching acidity.
Hazy. Bitter. Unrefined. Sometimes a beer comes along that just defies what you think a style should encompass. We took a pale ale and hopped it like an IPA. Then we dry hopped the hell out of it. What came out is a pale ale that is hoppy, grassy, nicely bitter, and all in all a great pale ale that was left rough around the edges. We really wanted to make a beer that could be left in its natural state to show off how beer really looks and tastes. We call it 16th and F Double Dry Hopped Pale Ale.
Smoke. That's the first, the middle, and the last impression you'll get from our Rauchbier. Low and Slow is in the tradition of German smoked lagers, with a bit of a twist in the cherry wood smoked malt we used. The beer has hints of a nice sweetness that harmonizes throughout the beers flavors and aromas from start to finish. Low and Slow finishes nice and clean, leaving you yearning for more. It is pretty much bacon in a glass, so how can you go wrong?
The Oatmeal Pale Ale is sort of an unusual style, and something not often seen in San Diego. Most of our city's beers are dry, crisp, and bitter. This is a mellower pale ale, with a full, supportive body that gives a strong malt presence with a lot of floral and tangerine rind hop flavors to balance it out. Smelling this beer is a treat, with a big oatmeal and citrus aroma. Creamy and smooth, lightly bitter, a beautiful gold with a bright white head and beautiful lacing. Excellent for those who enjoy a more evenly balanced pale.
All hail the Rich Mans IPA! A bold copper-colored beer with beautiful gold edges, and crowned with a strong white head. The aroma is grassy with a nice orange and malt presence. The mouthfeel is smooth and solid, with malt that backs up the sticky bitterness. The taste is pine, citrus, and a light malt sweetness that all interplays with the alcohol. Hops, hops, hops, and more hops! Occupy a bar stool, the 1% of beers has arrived!
This beer started as a Southern English Brown, and evolved from there. The nose almost comes across as caramel, but when you drink you will find that it is not sweet. Dark, toasty, and lightly sweet with notes of chocolate, coffee, biscuit, and caramel, this beer is complex but very drinkable. A rustic but balanced beer without a strong hop presence, definitely made for the malt lovers of the old world.
Strongly resembles a Strong Golden Ale but slightly darker and somewhat fuller-bodied. Usually has a more rounded malt flavor but should not be sweet.
A somewhat sweeter version of standard/premium lager with a little more body and flavor.
Like an American pale ale with more body, more caramel richness, and a balance more towards malt than hops (although hop rates can be significant).
An intensely hoppy, very strong pale ale without the big maltiness and/or deeper malt flavors of an American barleywine. Strongly hopped, but clean, lacking harshness, and a tribute to historical IPAs. Drinkability is an important characteristic; not a heavy, sipping beer.

If Green Flash were founded in historical Belgium, Rayon Vert would have been our flagship brew. A bold layering of hops finds balance from traditional malts. Bottle conditioning with fresh ale yeast and Brettanomyces finishes the beer, adding a delightful effervescence, dryness and continuously evolving character. Rayon Vert is Green Flash.

American Barleywine 13.0%
Hangar 24 Brewery, Redlands, CA
A well-hopped American interpretation of the richest and strongest of the English ales. The hop character should be evident throughout, but does not have to be unbalanced. The alcohol strength and hop bitterness often combine to leave a very long finish.

All aboard the baby tree! This is our first Pretty Things seasonal beer: A Springtime quadrupel brewed with dried plums. Batch 2 is out in stores now. Baby Tree is a Belgian-inspired beer, also inspired by springtime, lambs, Yorkshire and babies-in-trees... Baby tree is a "quadruple" brewed with a single strain of Belgian yeast. While a commonly used style name on the internet, "quadruple" isn't in fact a style name at all but a brand of beer produced by La Trappe in the Netherlands. Its found a common usage as a cover-all for the darkest and strongest beers produced by Trappist monks, mainly because they haven't named them themselves. Two Belgian brewers use the term "Abt", Flemish for "Abbot". Historically the best beer made in an abbey (by the Cistercians/Trappists at least) was referred to in Latin simply as "prima melior". This has also become a brand name in recent years.
