Sea Rocket Bistro in North Park is a small place doing big things. With an emphasis on all things local, Sea Rocket Bistro has an interesting and varied menu, including raw fresh sea urchin served in its spiky shell. The “eat local” philosophy also extends to the beer selection: the 13 beers on their bottle list, four on tap, and one hand cask all come from San Diego County breweries. Pairing suggestions are made on the menu, or tasters and flights are available if you want to take the matter into your own hands. Happy Hour offers $3 selected drafts and $4 tacos from 5 p.m.–7 p.m. every night except Tuesday, and for good reason: Tuesday is dollar oyster night. With participation in the monthly 30th on 30th, Drinkabout, and The SD Bike Commuter Discount Program, Sea Rocket Bistro goes beyond “eating local” to creating a community.
