With its lush gardens and cool breezes wafting through the massive dining room and outdoor patio, this is the resort of breweries. Located in Escondido, Stone is a mecca for craft beer lovers. One key word to the Stone philosophy? Community. The food served at Stone is from local and sustainable sources, and, in addition to Stone beers, the taps include a considerable variety of beers from around the world, paying special homage to local San Diego breweries. Don't forget to keep tabs on the incredible events hosted at Stone: from their Oakquinox barrel-aged beer event to their annual Anniversary Celebration beer festivals to their year-round “Master Pairings” beer dinners, there is ALWAYS something to do here. Must try food items? Their duck or avocado tacos, the soft & stinky cheese plate, the BLT (ask for extra bacon!), and any of the delicious desserts.

AleSmith’s interpretation of this classic English-style ale is smooth, dark, and rich. A variety of specialty malts produce a brilliant dark brown color and a wonderful malt complexity. A light dose of East Kent Goldings and Styrian Goldings hops from England balance the malt sweetness without adding bitterness to the flavor profile. Reintrodcued at AleSmith in 2002, Nut Brown Ale has quickly become one of our most popular beers. Rich chocolate malt flavors create complexity and drinkability in this classic English-style Nut Brown ale. Although dark in color, Nut Brown Ale is an extremely easy drinking, relatively low alcohol beer.
Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice off-white head, with good retention when properly served. Starts off with pleasantly strong hop flavors, balanced by a firm malt backdrop, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Medium straw color, pale tan head. Rich malty aroma with a HUGE dose of hops. Medium-full body with sweet malty flavors and a delicious abundance of aromatic a bittering hops.
An intensely hoppy, very strong pale ale without the big maltiness and/or deeper malt flavors of an American barleywine. Strongly hopped, but clean, lacking harshness, and a tribute to historical IPAs. Drinkability is an important characteristic; not a heavy, sipping beer.
This is an aggressive beer. You probably won't like it. It is quite doubtful you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality or depth. We would suggest you stick to more familiar territory - maybe something with a multi-million dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it's made in a little brewery, or one that implies that its tasteless fizzy yellow beer will give you more sex appeal.
A truly authentic Belgian style wheat or “white” ale, this Rascal is unfiltered (yup, that’s yeast on the bottom) and cleverly spiced with coriander and Curaçao orange peel producing a refreshingly zesty classic ale. Food pairing: Spicy Thai or Mexican dishes provide a level of heat and spiciness required to balance the semi-sweet, citrus flavors found in White Rascal. Our favorites are pad thai, green curry, blackened codfish and ceviche.
On a quest to make delicious beers, our brewers have continually sought creative new ways to accentuate the delightfully aromatic and flavorful qualities of hops. Hopheads rejoice! Dorado Double IPA takes hops to a new level. Mash Hopping, First Wort Hopping, Kettle Hopping, and Dry Hopping create an award winning beer that embodies San Diego’s reputation for making world class IPAs. Our bottle Robust Series gives all beer lovers an opportunity to try our most rare beers, previously available only on draft at select tap houses. Enjoy! Get the Point!
The Sculpin is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. It showcases bright flavors and aromas of apricot, peach, mango & lemon. The lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale won a gold medal at the World Beer Cup 2010 in the International Pale Ale category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the tastiest. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.
American Black Ale (Black IPA) 8.1%
Bear Republic Brewing Co., Healdsburg, CA
This hoppy American IPA is a full bodied beer brewed American pale and crystalmalts, and heavily hopped with Chinook, Cascade, Columbus and Centennial. There's a trophy in every glass.
A classic west coast IPA brewed with a blend of citrus peel. Lime, orange and lemon peels were added at the end of the boil to make this IPA extra refreshing.
American Amber Ale 9.8%
Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Paso Robles, CA
Like an American pale ale with more body, more caramel richness, and a balance more towards malt than hops (although hop rates can be significant).
A substantial, malty dark ale with a complex and flavorful roasted character.
A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.
A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.
San Diego IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is pale in color, super-hoppy, high-gravity, yet a highly quaffable ale. Our Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops.
A well-hopped American interpretation of the richest and strongest of the English ales. The hop character should be evident throughout, but does not have to be unbalanced. The alcohol strength and hop bitterness often combine to leave a very long finish.
A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.
Bright, clean, citrus, floral, tropical, dry. Everything a San Diego-style IPA should be. With a liberal addition of Centennial and Meridian hops, you get a good note of orange and pine. The malt takes a back seat in this beer, and really leaves the hops to be the star. An easy to drink, fantastic IPA for every day drinking.
A pale, spicy, fruity, refreshing wheat-based ale.
A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.
A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.
Quite hoppy, and not balanced out with honey, agave, or any of the other latest trends. Pine and grapefruit pith upfront with a lot of dryness throughout. A big dose of bready malt and lemon on the finish. It leaves you with a good bitter taste on the palate and lingers for quite a while.
You'll find our Stone IPA true to style with huge hop aroma, flavor and bitterness throughout. If you're a hop head like us, you'll love our Stone India Pale Ale. Medium malt character with a heavy dose of over the top hops. Generous dry hopping gives this beer its abundant hop aroma and crisp hop flavor.
It's been said that "Gravity Sucks." Simple enough. Well, we at Stone have identified gravitational forces in the beer world. And we have come to the conclusion that they, well, see above. So we avoid these less-than-desirable gravitational forces. We avoid dumbed-down flavor profiles and the vigorous pursuit of the lowest common denominator. We avoid big dollar marketing mentalities. We avoid additives, cheap adjuncts, stabilizers and chemical preservatives. So in the defiance of gravity we bring you Stone Levitation Ale. This deep amber ale has rich malt flavors, a big hoppy character, citrus overtones (courtesy of the hops and our special brewers yeast) and modest alcohol.
To celebrate the first anniversary of Arrogant Bastard Ale in 1998, we unleashed its big angry brother, Double Bastard Ale. Every November since then, the Double Bastard has been released in limited quantities. In 2004 Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale got a third cohort when we released OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale in 3 Litre bottles. 2006 marked the third year of OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale, and a surprise - we crammed, forced, shoved and cajoled the OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale into itty bitty tiny little 12oz bottles. It did not go willingly. Some Stone peeps got hurt. More emotionally, than physically, but it was definitely both. Well, here we are on our fourth year and we?ve got one more surprise... You?ll be able to get OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale in sixpacks year ?round starting on August 20th, 2007!
Our flagship ale, Stone Pale Ale is our Southern California interpretation of the classic British pale ale style. Deep Amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complimented by rich maltiness.
So called because of the "ruinous" effect it has on your palate! This massive hop monster has a wonderfully delicious and intensely hop flavor on a refreshing malt base. One taste and you'll see why we call this brew "a liquid poem to the glory of the hop"! Those who seek, crave and rejoice in beers with big, bold, bitter character will find true nirvana in Stone Ruination IPA!
A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.
Stone Smoked Porter is dark, rich and complicated. A porter is substantially darker than a pale ale, but not as black or opaque as a stout. Our Stone Smoked Porter has a captivatingly deep mahogany color, complimented by a silky dark tan head. Rich, full bodied, and robust. Smooth with coffee like flavors balanced by the subtle smoky character of just the right amount of peat smoked specialty malt.
Brace yourself, bereaved fans of Stone 11th Anniversary Ale, for your joyous new day has finally come! It?s like your first crush?you know, the one who broke your heart when she/he decided to go to the junior prom with what?s-their-name?has suddenly come back to you to go for a cruise down the main drag on Friday night. It?s like?it?s like finding that long lost gold watch, given to you by your father, who got it from his father, who got it from his father. It?s like when your best buddy in the world, Sam the family dog, finally sauntered up the front porch steps one sunny afternoon after having been on a six-week runaway. Yes, it?s just like that. And it?s like this: A brilliantly hopped double IPA?providing a wake up call of floral and citrus aromas?backed up by a deliciously smooth and dark roasted maltiness. You get the best of both worlds with this black double IPA.
