The High Dive is popular among denizens of San Diego’s Bay Park community for many reasons, but it wasn’t until owner Ingrid Qua discovered the immense flavor-spectrum provided by craft beer that solid suds were added to the venue’s list of attributes. Fast forward to present day and The High Dive is now San Diego’s largest Ballast Point account and has one of the most diversified yet across-the-board-desirable beer lists in town. It is also home base for Ingrid’s monthly Chicks For Beer group, which brings in brewers for women-only beer education sessions where sampling is a key component of higher learning. Throw in pinball machines, a load of smile-inspiring kitsch, and the casual comfort of a “dive” and you’ve got all the makings for a high time at The High Dive.

AleSmith’s interpretation of this classic English-style ale is smooth, dark, and rich. A variety of specialty malts produce a brilliant dark brown color and a wonderful malt complexity. A light dose of East Kent Goldings and Styrian Goldings hops from England balance the malt sweetness without adding bitterness to the flavor profile. Reintrodcued at AleSmith in 2002, Nut Brown Ale has quickly become one of our most popular beers.
American IPA 7.0%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.
Baltic Porter 6.0%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
A Baltic Porter often has the malt flavors reminiscent of an English brown porter and the restrained roast of a schwarzbier, but with a higher alcohol content than either. Very complex, with multi-layered flavors.
Inspired by traditional English ESBs, our Calico Amber Ale is as American as it could be. A rich complexity comes from four types of malt, but it's those distinct American hops that offer a crisp bitterness and unique floral aroma. To round out our traditional-English-yet-very-American Amber Ale, we use a proprietary yeast to develop a fruity, Madeira-like richness.
An intensely hoppy, very strong pale ale without the big maltiness and/or deeper malt flavors of an American barleywine. Strongly hopped, but clean, lacking harshness, and a tribute to historical IPAs. Drinkability is an important characteristic; not a heavy, sipping beer.
Standard American Lager 6.8%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
Very refreshing and thirst quenching.
A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American pale ale.
American Amber Ale 7.0%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
Like an American pale ale with more body, more caramel richness, and a balance more towards malt than hops (although hop rates can be significant).
Malty yet not overly sweet because of the slight underlying hops.
There's no wonder why our Pale Ale is so popular?it is skillfully crafted in the style of the Kolsch beers of Cologne, Germany. We've chosen German hops for aroma, and rounded out the recipe with a blend of American and German malts. While it is very much like a pilsner, our Pale Ale is fermented at ale temperatures, giving it a subdued fruitiness?a perfect compliment to the crispness of the wheat and maltiness of the Munich malt. If you like a lighter brew but also like the complexity of craft beers, then our Pale Ale is for you.
The Sculpin is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. It showcases bright flavors and aromas of apricot, peach, mango & lemon. The lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale won a gold medal at the World Beer Cup 2010 in the International Pale Ale category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the tastiest. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.
Oatmeal Stout 6.4%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
A very dark, full-bodied, roasty, malty ale with a complementary oatmeal flavor.
Malty yet not overly sweet because of the slight underlying hops.
American Wheat or Rye Beer 4.0%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
Refreshing wheat or rye beers that can display more hop character and less yeast character than their German cousins.
American Amber Ale 10.0%
Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
Like an American pale ale with more body, more caramel richness, and a balance more towards malt than hops (although hop rates can be significant).
Two of the world’s oldest beverages join forces to conquer your palate. Victory at Sea embodies the art of masterful brewing by infusing a velvety Imperial Porter with pure vanilla flavor and specially-selected, hand roasted coffee. The addition of cold brewed coffee to the beer lends a subtle roasted flavor to this robust imperial porter, blending perfectly with rich vanilla and caramel undertones. By uniting two San Diego brewing traditions, Caffe Calabria freshly brewed coffee and Ballast Point beer, we have successfully created an artisanal masterpiece.
A harmonious marriage of fruit and beer. The key attributes of the underlying style will be different with the addition of fruit; do not expect the base beer to taste the same as the unadulterated version. Judge the beer based on the pleasantness and balance of the resulting combination.

Introduced nationally in 1982, Bud Light is brewed with a malt and hops ratio different from Budweiser for a distinctively crisp taste with fewer calories.
A premium light beer with 105 calories per 12-ounce serving.
Refreshing and thirst quenching, although generally more filling than standard/lite versions.
Very refreshing and thirst quenching.

Labatt's brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company.
Very refreshing and thirst quenching.

Classic American Pilsner 4.5%
Cerveceria Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma, Monterrey, Mexico
Refreshing, but with underlying malt and hops that stand out when compared to other modern American light lagers. Adjuncts in brewing can contribute to a sweeter flavor or a more neutral flavor.
Variable, but should be a medium, refreshing drink. Sweet ciders must not be cloying. Dry ciders must not be too austere. An ideal cider serves well as a “session” drink, and suitably accompanies a wide variety of food.
